Modding Sitecom MD-250

The first NAS (Network-Attached Storage) I bought was a Sitecom MD-250, like the one on the picture. This was a cheap solution for what I wanted: to store my files centrally so that i could access it any time. Unfortunately it broke down last week on almost exactly the same time I was planning to publish a post about it. It broke kind of because it was overheated :P . This wasn’t due to the place it stood nor it was Sitecoms fault. You see, there was this tiny little fan of about 1 by 1 inch which made a lot of noise, cause it ran at 3500 RPM, so who wouldn’t screw this thing loose! Read the rest of this entry »
